    Dear Maryam,

I am in Penang and was reading all the messages. Glad you have all the luggage issues worked out and, as Mom says, please extend our thanks to your host family. It is very wonderful the way they have helped you. I'll see you at the airport tomorrow. Get a lot of sleep and have a safe flight tomorrow. We'll all look forward to meeting at the airport. Mom and I are so excited to see you. Love, Daddy and Mama

Mama and Daddy (Friday, 22 October 2010 05:10)

    Dear Maryam,

Well I am glad that you have sorted out the luggage issue. Please thank your host parents for all that they have done for you. I will write to you host mother shortly. We can't thank them enough for taking good care of you.
This might be our last communication through this website. I will still monitor this website from time to time tonight in case there is any last minute message from you.
Well my dear, do take care and I can't wait to see you tomorrow.
By the way, please don't forget to take down your host family's address for future reference.
    Love, Mama

Going to the Last event of the trip.
My host family gave me an extra bag because the wait limit is 35kg each person.
My green big bag weighs 18.6kg.
    My carry-on is 6.8kg.
The extra bag weighs 5 kg.

    that`s all.

    Dear Maryam,
If my calculations are correct this is your last day in Japan. Soon be time to get back in the school routine. I thought about you because I just took pumpkin pies out of the oven. I guess you still like pumpkin pies.
It's getting time for halloween and grandma takes halloween treats to school Monday. I am making cookie spiders. I could use your help.
Grandpa and I look forward to hearing your voice. Have a good trip home.
    Love you

    Grandma & Grandpa (Wednesday, 20 October 2010 23:33)

    Dear Maryam
First question--how is the cold. Hope you are drinking a lot of water. I had a Japanese doctor friend and his wife that had trained at K.U. Medical Center. They have returned to Japan and I have misplaced their address. Do you remember the Japanese doll I keep in the guest bedroom? It came from them. A very nice couple. I am not sure if I should send any more messages, I am not sure when you leave. You will have many wonderful memories that be with you for ever.
This has been great opportunity. Grandpa says hello and he is also anxious to see you in December. We love you.

    Daddy (Wednesday, 20 October 2010 09:06)

    Dear Maryam,

Sounds like Mom has given you some good suggestions for your packing. Anything that is breakable and which you believe may break even after being wrapped in paper or clothes, you should put in your carry-on, instead of your check-through. Hope you have been able to download your camera's pictures on the thumbdrive we sent with Puan Rosmiah. This will make room for more pictures for you. Yes, I will see you Saturday night. We are so anxious to see you. Please give our very best to your host family.

We are starting to get excited about your return. We miss you and love you so much.
    Love, Daddy

  • #48

    Mama (Wednesday, 20 October 2010 08:39)

    Dear Maryam,
Did you get the thumb drive from Puan Rosmiah? Please copy as many files of your dances as you can and any other activities that you may have had.
    Love Mama

  • #47

    Mama (Wednesday, 20 October 2010 07:45)

    Dear Maryam,

Do you have any breakable items? If you have, you need to wrap them with paper or your clothes. Can you ask your host mother to help you with the packing?
Have you given the t-shirts to them yet?
Daddy will be in Penang on Saturday but will fly home that night just to see you. He will then drive back to Penang early the next morning. He would land about 45 mins after you land if everything is on schedule.
We are getting excited here. We can't wait to see you again.
Enjoy you last two days in Japan. Please take pictures of your host family. Are you going to leave your scrap book there? If you want, you can. You can always make another one. Please invite Konome and her family to Malaysia. They will be most welcome in our home.
About the shopping ban, I have to think about it!!!
Good night sayang and I will catch up with you tomorrow. Love Mama

  • #46

    Maryam (Wednesday, 20 October 2010 04:44)

I won`t get shopping ban after this right?

  • #45

    Maryam (Wednesday, 20 October 2010 03:30)

Today we spent the whole day in school.
We had two classes to teach and two classes of activities.
I have all the gifts in the bag already.
I hope they do not break.
    The bag weighs 16.4kg
I thought your not home on Saturday, daddy.
I can`t wait to taste chicken rendang.
    Will Sarah be home?
Everyone says it`s cold but it is actually hot.
You said not to buy gifts for you but I did.
    Bye.

    Dear Maryam,

Wow! What a message from you. Sounds like you are having some really interesting experiences. Can't wait to hear all the details Saturday. I'm in Ipoh right now, but wanted to say goodnight to you. Love you, night, love you, night...

    Mama (Tuesday, 19 October 2010 07:30)

    My dear Maryam,

It's nice to hear from you again. Are you over your cold yet? I hope so.
Well, it looks like you have got the shopping bug. You have a few days left there, so maybe you want to slow down a bit with the shopping.
Daddy is in Ipoh right now and will be there for two days. Ben has a slight temperature and is resting.
How was the Nagoya castle trip? Did you take lot of pictures? I think you should make a scrap book of your trip to Japan once you get back.
Well my dear, I miss you so much and I can't wait for Saturday.
Please send my warm regards to you host mother and the rest of the family.
    Love you, Mama

  • #42

    Maryam (Tuesday, 19 October 2010 03:44)

    I need to stop shopping!

I have bought so many things and have lots of gifts. I hope I can fit it in the bag.

    I have less then 5000¥.
    I shopped a lot.
Today we went to a newspaper publisher.
It was huge and had lots of machines.
They had a lecture but the Malaysian students didn`t understand a thing.

After that we went to have a picnic with the 5th graders.
Noriko [my host mother] packed me rice, vinegar chicken [I think], mini hashbrowns and spaggeti.

After that we went to Nagoya castle.
To Mama, Daddy, Sarah, Ben, Blaise, Grandma and Grandpa:
Make sure you have a place for the souveniers I bought.

Then we went to the train station to go home.
Teacher Jasbir looked like a London university student thet you see in those old movies. She wore the hat and the long coat.
She even carried a bag that said a lollipop brand name.

    Bye.

    Dear Maryam,

How have you been today (Monday)? Is your cold better? Guess you are being kept very busy. We have seen quite a few new pictures on the website. You are always on our mind and we are looking forward to seeing you on Saturday. Get a lot of sleep and we'll talk more with you tomorrow via e-mail.

We love you so much. Good night and love you.

P.S. Bubbles misses you and has been looking around for you.

    Dear Maryam
We just hung up talking to your mom and dad. They miss you very much. Your stay in Japan is now half over. Your dad helped me a lot getting to this site to send you messages. I greatly enjoyed all the pictures. Looks like you are keeping busy. I read one of the messages that said you had a cold. Hope you are feeling better.
    Take care of yourself.
    Love you. Grandma and Grandpa

    Dear Maryam,
We have been thinking about you. You have one week left to go and I'm sure your parents will be happy to see you again. We hope you are enjoying your stay in Japan and that you are getting to see and do a lot. What a wonderful experience for you. Look forward to seeing you in December and hearing all about your trip. We love you,

    Mama (Sunday, 17 October 2010 07:04)

    Dear Maryam,

Since you have a cold, try not to wash your hair until you get better (unless you can dry it with a hair dryer). We do not want your head to get cold. Also if it is cold and windy outside, be sure to put on your hood.
As Daddy has mentioned, I am starting to plan what to cook this Saturday. Rendang Ayam and Apple Pie will definitely be on the menu.
Till then, take care and please convey my thanks to your host parents for buying the Bead sets for you.

Love you and hope that you will get over your cold soon.

    Love, Mama

  • #36

    Daddy (Sunday, 17 October 2010 06:06)

    Dear Maryam,

Take care of that cold. Make sure you are warm at night and wear your jacket during the day, drink a lot of water, and get a lot of sleep. If you think you have a temperature, then ask your host mother to check you.
Mom has a cold also, but she is starting to get better. Hope you took some picutres at the tower in kowaki Park--sounds spectacular. Sounds like you are having lots of fun with special activities and some shopping mixed in. Ben and I went to a soccer match last night and I would love to take you to one when you return. But Selangor lost 0-6 to Singapore. Yes, Aunt Carol has an i-phone. Talked to Blaise today and his girlfriend. Blaise says hi and is very impressed that you are away in Japan. Mom and I love you. Mom is planning all the things to cook for you when you return. Have a great week and take care of that cold.

    Love,
    Daddy

I forgot to add that I have a cold.

  • #34

    Maryam (Sunday, 17 October 2010 03:56)

Yesterday we had a barbeque at Kowaki Park. It was very good. The Mexican students were there too. We played volleyball. After that climbed up 8 flights of stairs to a tower. It was beautiful up there.

Today, Konome had a Judo fight.
I do not know if she won because after that I went to calligraphy and a Yugata Party. I don`t know if I spelled "Yugata" corectly or not. "Yugata" is something like a Kimono except it is cotton and cheaper.

After that we went to a 100 Yen shop. Everything was 105 Yen [5 yen extra because of tax.]. I bought 60 items. I got gifts for everyone. After that we went shopping somemore. They bought me 2 Do-It-Yourself Bead Decoration sets. Then we went shopping somemore at JUSCO.

Just now we watched the News. The Malaysian and Mexican students were on television at the Mayor`s office. I forgot to add something. I even bought gifts for the cats.

I saw the newspaper article on this website.
Sinar newspaper came to the school to interview us.

One question, does Aunt Carol and Uncle Bob still have i-phones?

    That is all.

    Bye.

    Mama (Saturday, 16 October 2010 07:41)

    Dearest Maryam,

How is your day today? We can't wait to hear from you. I have passed a thumb drive to Puan Rosmiah for you. So you can use the thumb drive to store any video (of your dance for example) or pictures that you may have. On the thumb drive is also a scanned copy of the article about you and your friends and teachers in the Sinar newspaper.
Daddy and Ben are at the Stadium right now watching football; Selangor versus Singapore. I hope that they are having fun. Sarah is not home this weekend; her exams are next week.
Well, take care my sayang and write soon.
    Love you so much, Mama

You and your friends are in the newspaper today. Mama bought 2 copies. We'll show you when you get back.
How was the cultural show? We look forward to some pictures. Have you been taking lots of pictures? We notice that you have not been wearing your glasses in the pictures. Is everything OK with your glasses? Also if you need your hair tied, you can ask your host mother for help.
We love you and we are so proud of you.

    Dear Maryam,

Sounds like you are very busy. How was the visit to the Mayor's office? We have never been to a Mayor's office, was it grand? How cold is it? Have you worn the windbreaker from Subang Parade? We didn't know you liked sweet potatoes, so good for you. All is well at home except we caught Electra stealing some ikan bilis from the counter. Don't worry he is OK after time-out. You have a good rest and we'll look forward to reading your next message when you get a chance to write. We love you so much.

    Dear Maryam,

Glad your first day at school went so well. Sounds like you are making quite a few friends and are serving as a great ambassador for Malaysia.
Since your pen drive did not work, do you want us to look on your computer to get your presentation and send to you host mom? See how expensive a new thumbdrive is and if you have some extra money, buy one, then ask your host mom if she wouldn't mind to save your dance videos on there so you will always have it. If it is too expensive, don't worry. Mom and I miss you also (mom sleeps with your gizmo bear at night), but we know this is a great experience for you and we know you will be back soon.
We love you and are so very proud of you.
    Good night our sweetie.
    Love, Mama and Daddy

Today was the first day of school.
    We walked to school.
When we reached school, we had a meeting with the teachers.
Then we had a welcome assembly. I had to introduce about myself and my family.
    My pendrive malfunction.
    Then we had lunch.
    It was OK
Then we played with the Japanese students.
We also taught them to play Congkak.
Then we [Me, Konome] played badminton.
    Then we went home.
Then Iffah came over at 5 pm.
She has just gone home at 9 pm.
I miss you so much and I cry in the shower and toilet. Bye

Today was Host Family Day. I went to Lagoona Theme Park. I rode 4 types of roller coasters.
    It was so much fun.
    Met the Tachi Family(Ashwini).
I rode one roller coaster 7 times and it was still scary.
I got souveniers for Sarah and Ben there.

    To: Sarah
Sarah, you are still crazy and no I have not seen DUCKS!!!

    The dance was fine.
Today I ate Chinese Food, it was good.
